Mark Tumaru Bio

Tattooing 7 years.

Started in Wanganui under Phil Carney of Trident Tattoos. Studied fine arts, then, in the tradition of many art rebels, quit art school to become a full time tattooer.

Moved to Auckland in 1999. Worked at Stained Skin and then Sacred.

Recently poached by Illicit Tattoo.

Heavily influenced by comic book art. Loves Geoff Darrow, Frank Miller, Timothy Bradstreet, Ashley Wood, Art Nouveau style, films and music.

Happily married to Jonni, Illicit Clothing designer.
